Nutritional Therapy in Muswell Hill and Crouch End

NUTRITIONAL THERAPY IN CROUCH END

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care. Nutritional Therapy practitioners use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows us to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health. Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing and for those with chronic conditions wishing to work with or ‘consult’ a nutritional therapist in collaboration with other suitably qualified healthcare professionals.

Nutritional Therapists consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Practitioners never recommend Nutritional Therapy as a replacement for medical advice and always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional. We will also frequently work alongside a medical professional and will communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the client’s care to explain any nutritional therapy programme that has been provided.

Registered Nutritional Therapists work on the basis of Functional Medicine to identify and balance potential imbalances in your body that may be a factor to your health concern. More information about Functional Medicine can be found here.

Your symptoms have usually taken years before becoming noticeable and to manifest as current health concerns. Although you may see some immediate improvements in your symptoms after starting to follow your diet and lifestyle programme, it may take your body time to rebalance. In other words, Nutritional Therapy is not a ‘magic bullet’ and it will most likely take more than one consultation to guide you back to optimal health.

FUNCTIONAL TESTS:

As Functional Medicine is evidence-based, I may sometimes suggest ordering functional tests from private laboratories. These tests can provide valuable additional information about what is going on in your body, for example to detect nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances or levels of toxins. Testing also facilitate for a more individual and targeted nutritional programme and are helpful in monitoring progress.

The tests are by no means compulsory and would need to be paid for separately.

SUPPLEMENTATION:

Supplements may be recommended depending on the health concern and are usually discussed during the follow-up consultation. Supplements can be ordered online or by phone from reputable supplement companies outlined in the follow-up programme.

Please note that supplements are not a substitute for eating a healthy diet and are not an alternative for medicines.
